Select Accomplishments at UNMC (2012 - 2026)
In partnership with dedicated teams across UNMC, Dr. Dele Davies guided the successful execution of multiple initiatives.
Coordinated with the NU System to engage federal and state lawmakers, communicating UNMC/NU’s value to Nebraska and advancing shared university priorities.
Strengthened statewide legislative relationships through consistent outreach and in-person engagement — meeting senators in their districts during UNMC travels and hosting visits when they are in Omaha.
Strengthened federal legislative relationships by engaging with Nebraska’s federal congressional House and Senate delegation and Department of Defense health security partners both in their Washington DC offices and on campus at UNMC.
Proactively monitored and responded to policy and funding risks affecting UNMC — tracking federal actions (e.g., NIH indirect cost proposals, executive orders, broader spending changes) and key state priorities (biennial budget, tobacco settlement funds, and bills supporting workforce development such as LB305 and LB627).
Directed the development of a federal transition resource webpage to provide timely updates and guidance on new administration actions affecting higher education and academic medicine (e.g., research, financial aid, immigration, and related executive orders).
